FPTC Health and Safety Policy

In the interest of maintaining a safe and healthy environment, students are required to adhere to all safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and health protocols as outlined by Fort Pierce Training Center (FPTC). This policy promotes a culture of responsibility and collective concern for the welfare of the entire training center.
**Sick Policy Guidelines**
To protect the health of our students, staff, and community, we ask that students adhere to the following guidelines:
1. **Illness Prevention and Responsibility**:
- If you believe you are coming down with a cold or are currently suffering from allergies, do not attend class without obtaining a doctor’s note from your family physician indicating that it is safe for you to participate.
- Even if you feel fine or believe your symptoms are minor, it is important to stay home to prevent the potential spread of illness to other students and staff members who will be working in close proximity to you.
2. **Notification and Documentation**:
- Notify your instructor or the administration as soon as you suspect you may be ill.
- Provide a doctor’s note stating that you are cleared to attend classes if you are experiencing symptoms of a cold or allergies.
3. **Classroom and Training Participation**:
- The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) skills training involves hands-on activities, such as brushing each other’s teeth and physically feeding one another. Due to the close physical contact required, it is imperative that all participants are in good health to minimize the risk of spreading infections.
Health Protocols
- Hygiene Practices:
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- Use hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available.
